«Rider» on rivers

Everyone knows water skiing, but for a few years now, it is the wakeboard which runs before the wind. So much so that in the Water skiing Club of Collonges, very close to Lyon, it represents almost half of the gliding runs and it is accessible to all amateurs. Everyone to the water!

The wakeboard is for water skiing a bit like what the snowboard is for skiing. At the same time more spectacular and almost easier. The discipline was invented, about twenty years ago, in the United States, and it has become a craze for the past four or five years, so much so that the club on the banks of the Saône River is now equipped with a special boat for the past two years.

What you do in fact, is jump on both sides of the wave, generated by the wake behind the boat, to achieve figures. Somersaults, rotations, grabs, backrolls, tantrums, ralleys…, it is enormous!

In competition, it is a free evolution between two buoys: it is necessary to carry out sequences and go through the run with a minimum of falls. But it doesn’t matter; nobody obliges anyone to achieve performances, it just about enjoying oneself.

In fact, children can start from three or four years old (according to their size, of course) and adult beginners, who start with the Bi-ski, very quickly change for the monoski.

One can practise this very amusing sport, rich in feelings, in the water skiing clubs of the whole area.

The one of Collonges remains however famous, and has trained many champions such as Lucas Langlois, who reached the highest level of the Coupe de France Open and the small Troll (as less than nine years old are baptized) Axel Massardier, who won it in his category.

And, as everyone knows, who can more can less…
