It is the perfect opportunity to travel through the mountains all summer long (even in autumn, just before going back to school) and to discover the alpine lakes, the national parks, the historical cities, like Chambèry, Annecy, Aix les Bains, Grenoble and Lyon, of course.

You can then go towards Maurienne and Tarentaise to fully benefit from the mountain pastures, the torrents, the rocks and to practise climbing, white water sports and take part in all the adventures which abound in the area.

With a special warm thought for the capital of the Alps, Grenoble, loved by students the world over, so much so that it was the first city of the area to have so many restaurants of different types of cooking, and this, for more than thirty years, when the others did not even think of it!

The youth hostel of Grenoble is more precisely located at Echirolles which enables it to take advantage of a large park of 5.000m2. Totally in line with the city, at the point of modernity, it has an ultramodern architecture, dèco design and functions in total respect with ecological principles.

Total bonus: it is only 5 km from the centre of town, very easily accessible thanks to a very well designed public transport system.

It is in this kind of place that one can realize how the Youth Hostels have changed since their creation (the formula celebrated its fifty years anniversary in spring!).
