The development of the Parc des Oiseaux
19 Juil 2010
Tweet

Visitors coming with family to the natural bird reserve in Villars les Dombes are more and more numerous. The attendance at the park has increased by about 40 % in only two years. This is a logical consequence of the numerous actions for the conservation of species. The Parc des Oiseaux which is installed there because numerous migrants stopped over on the ponds, counts now among the largest parks in Europe.

Parc des Oiseaux

One of the guarantees that animals like to be in parks which are reserved for them, is when they reproduce. It is the case in the Parc des Oiseaux. There were this year, more than five hundred births of eighty different species and children like visiting the nursery and observing the squawking beaks which aim towards the food. The staff enjoys showing their work. No need to say that’s something to be proud of!

For several years now, the park has been making big efforts for the conservation of species. It was, fifteen years ago, one of the founder members of the CEPA (Association of Preservation of Species and Animal Populations).

Parc des Oiseaux

An association with the objective to finance programs of protection and preservation of very rare species in nature. When Jacques Perrin shot his movie The Migratory People , he worked in close collaboration with the park.

What also attracts visitors is what is new. Every year new spaces are set up. After South America, Australia, Europe, Asia and its winged inhabitants, it is Africa which was installed in 2010 on about 1,5 hectares with one of the most important populations of Hornbills which move around in a décor recreating the Asian bamboo plantation and the African savanna.

Visitors also enjoy shows of birds in flight. Leaving place from time to time for concerts and cultural meetings. The Parc des Oiseau has a wide opened sky.
