Crazy snow sports in Les Menuires
19 Jan 2010
Tweet

Unusual snow sports are more and more appreciated by accomplished sportsmen who think the classic ski a little bit limp . Even if the well silhouetted and packed slopes delight most of skiers. In Les Menuires, the heart of the 3 Vallées, you will be offered a magnificent Snowcross and the Rock’ n Bob, a rather staggering sledging slope.

Roc'n Bob - Les Ménuires

This is that way that all snow sports lovers have begun one day. By pulling the sled to go back up the neighbour’s field before starting crazy descents, mixed up with lots of laughter with friends. No doubt about it, the sled is in everyone’s memories and it has evolved more and more.

In Les Menuires, it does not mean a few slides at the close of day when skiers have left the slopes, but well and truly rushing into the Combes des Menuires slope for exceptional sensations.

This new sledging slope baptized Roc’ n Bob (a whole program!) is four kilometers long with four hundred and fifty meters difference in height. Width of the slope: seven meters. Enough to challenge one’s friends and slide side by side.

Roc'n Bob - Les Ménuires

Equipped and with a safety helmet, let’s dash from the top of the Trois Marches cable lift, for a crazy descent along the series of twenty two bends. Let’s go!

We get used to the sled to begin with in the Roc Rapids , a series of big bends which we approach carefully, hands on brakes. Gently …

Then, once you become intoxicated with speed, it is the moment to take up Le Canyon Sans Fin and its series of hyper tight bends. Then there is a long straight line Le Long Run which allows you to gain speed and to catch up one’s delay before the arrival at the Olympic Slalom stadium by La Cascade aux Images .

Still need more? No problem. There even are evening sessions. With frontal lamp, exhilarating.
