Starred Chefs in 2009

Gastronomy is doing well in Rhône-Alpes, even very well. With two new 2 stars in Lyon and six new starred restaurants in the area, given by the famous Guide Michelin red book. Without counting all those, already awarded, who maintain the colours of gastronomy in their restaurant.

Chalet Mounier

This year is an excellent vintage for the region in the guide Michelin. It is Mathieu Viannay, who has just taken over the restaurant, formerly held by La Mre Brazier, a bourgeoise cook and the first woman chef to be starred, who also taught the profession to urchins such as Bocuse and Fernand Point, who wins the second star.

At the same time, and awaited for a long time: Guy Lassausaie’s star, whose family house in the countryside is just a step from Lyon, is surely one of the best price-quality ratios in the region.

Among the new starred restaurants, two are in Valence, gastronomic city by definition with Anne-Sophie Pic’s 3 stars, one is in Bourget-du-Lac and two in the mountains at Courchevel and at 2 Alps.

La Mère Brazier - Mathieu Vianney

The Loire, which is also renowned for the quality of its restaurants with the incomparable Troisgros and its 3 stars in Roanne, has seen Thierry Fernande from the Prieuré restaurant in Ambierle, rewarded with his first star.

This native of the area, with solid and fundamental foundations makes nothing at random and even if he is not afraid of innovation, it is always in moderation and assuring that his creations remain coherent.

Take advantage of it to discover the village. Particularly specialized in books and bookshops, it attracts numerous book lovers who, as a result, need expend no effort to find a good restaurant.
