It is nice to spend time in villages which have a history. It is the case of Pralognan-la Vanoise, a charming village situated on the salt and cheeses road which formerly connected the salt works of the region of Moûtiers to Italy, via the Vanoise pass. At that time people used skis, snowshoes and sealskins for other reasons than leisure activities.
Then tourism happened with the necessity to accommodate people taking advantage of the very famous waters of the valley (which are still famous…) at Salins-les-Bains and Brides-les-Bains. Then, at the end of the 19th century, the first leisure skis showed up. Winter sports began, but in a cool way…
Since 1963, date of the creation of the Parc de la Vanoise, in the Alps, the wild and protected resources of the village have multiplied. 70% of the municipality is part of the park and meets its requirements.
One thus pays attention to the environment when practising long-distance skiing, or out walking with snowshoes which take nature lovers on routes such as the Lac des Vaches, Chollière and Les Barnettes.
One can follow one of the nine winter paths drawn from the Corniche to the Cascade de la Fraîche and one can make the dogs obey to your voice, by learning how to drive a husky team. Mush, mush, mush. Only happiness!
