Le Colombier - Marie Pierre Morel

When one compliments Michel Troisgros about the renovation and layout of the Colline du Colombier that he has transformed into a guest house, he immediately attributes the merit to his wife Marie-Pierre.

She totally devoted herself to the decoration of the place as she did for the restaurant and the hotel in Roanne. Fascinated by contemporary art, she always looks for purity and elegance.

Once more it is the case for this farm overlooking the Loire valley and the Digoin Canal. With a stunning view onto the Bourgogne and Charolais meadows where the robust white cows which give the best meat of the world graze.


They are then served in the plate, as Tartar steak, beefsteak with garlic cloves or even beef rib simply fried in butter. Very simple dishes, but skilfully executed, along with fried frogs with spices, small fried Loire fish, crusty leaves with vanilla, as light as a breath.

The restaurant has been arranged in the former cowshed under the monumental beams. The holes which have been made in the walls frame the surrounding landscapes that serve as paintings.


Not far away, a long farm and its dovecote can accommodate two families of four people and three small houses, baptized cadoles which is the name of wine growers’ sheds, will welcome couples who come there to live in a (luxurious) hut just like when they were children.

No-one gets it wrong and everyone can find the road for the pleasure of offering oneself Troisgros for 34 euros, even the luxurious berlines parked in what remains a true farmyard.
