Return in force to swimming in nature
18 Juil 2007

The most beautiful swimming pool will never be worth, for nature lovers, the cool waters of lakes such as the one of Issarlès, in Ardèche, or of Champos, in the Drôme. Nor the pleasure of bathing in the wild streams surrounded by the Southern landscapes and with the vegetation of the South of France.

Lac volcanique d'Issarles - Montagne ardéchoise (07) - Photo Rhône-Alpes Tourisme - JL Rigaux.

You can say yes indeed, but there are slides, swimming pools with bustle, aquatic parks with equipped beaches. And we shall answer, yes indeed, but at the lake Champos, in the Drôme, one can also take advantage of diving pontoons, a whole fleet of canoes, the aquatic slide, the ponds with fountains and pedalos for the young.

Furthermore, bathing is carefully supervised; one can stay in comfortable chalets and new this year, in bungalows toilés where you can stay a few days. Families love it!

For an anti-heat wave programme, you will choose the Issarlès lake, perched at 1 000 metres alt., in the Monts du Vivarais. Lots of days up to 30°C would be needed so that it can reach a Jacuzzi temperature!

Lac de Champos

This magnificent classified site with its charming tepid clear waters and its beach of fine sand, nestled in a volcanic landscape has no equal. The lake fills the crater of a former volcano (it is a volcanic Maar) and if waters are blue like those of Mediterranean Sea, it is because it is 138 metres deep. Waters spring from Ray Pic in plentiful waterfalls and reappear from the ground at 53°C further on at Saint Laurent les Bains, an amazing spa in Ardèche!

Then when the heights of summer arrive, nothing is worth the fresh and lively waters of rivers such as Ardèche, Baume or Volane into which one can directly dive, after treatments in the Spa de la Manufacture, in Antraigues. A harmony between the pleasures of water and all other joys at the same time!
