The Olives of Drôme Provençale
Black olives have been grown around Nyons and Buis-les-Baronnies for more than a thousand years. Walk, ride or drive through the olive groves, visit working mills, and stock up on AOC olive oil as well as tapenade and soaps made with local oil.
Perched villages
The rugged peaks of Ardèche and Drôme are dotted with enchanting perched villages dating back to medieval times.  Discover stirring stories of past prosperity and ancient power struggles as you wander cobbled streets and tour castles and churches.
Each village has its own atmosphere, but no visitor to Drôme should miss Mirmande and Montbrun les Bains, La Garde Adhémar and Le Poët Laval. In Ardèche, Villages de Caractère such as Balazuc and Vogüe offer the full-on atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
Château de Grignan
High above the lavender, the hilltop Château de Grignan was home to the daughter of Madame de Sévigné, who gave a snapshot of 17th century life in over 700 letters to her. Tour the castle, visit the village and enjoy cultural events and concerts.
Nougat city
Midway between Lyon and the Mediterranean, the historic town of Montélimar is famed for its sweet, sticky nougat. Visit producers large and small; relax in the town’s shady parks; and enjoy Rhône Valley views from the castle ramparts.
